Facebook Health Data Sharing Project Leaked, Put on Hold

It was revealed this week that Facebook had been working on a project where it had been planning a data sharing arrangement with a number of major US hospitals to determine which patients needed special treatment.

The social network was said to have been in talks last month with health organizations, including Stanford Medical School and American College of Cardiology about the project. However, the proposal was suspended after Facebook’s scandal with Cambridge Analytica heightened concerns over the data the social network collects from its users and how it is used.

A Facebook spokesperson said that the project had not moved forward past the planning stage, and they have not received, shared or analyzed any user data.
