Facebook Ends Partnership with Data Brokers

Facebook announced earlier this week that it had ceased its partnership with several large data brokers that help advertisers target users on the platform.

Facebook revealed that it will be cutting its ties to companies including Acxiom, Experian, Oracle Data Cloud, TransUnion and WPP PLC, which for years gave advertisers the option of targeting their ads based on the data they collect. Facebook product marketing director Graham Mudd said that the move should help improve people’s privacy on Facebook.

After the announcement, shares in Acxiom traded down to $25. The company also expects total revenue and profitability to be negatively impacted by as much as $25 million in 2019.
