27 Mar Facebook: Call, Text Log Require User Consent
Facebook recently responded to user reports that the company had been keeping records of calls and text for years and said that the feature was only offered to users who have opted-in.
A Facebook representative clarified that call and text history are only logged if the user gives their permission. The company added that the data is stored only in secure servers and is never shared or sold with anyone.
The call and text logging feature was recently reported by tech website The Verge in the heat of Facebook’s privacy scandal. The U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee on Friday had already written to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg requesting him to testify at a hearing.
