Facebook Attempts to Reintroduce Facial Recognition Feature in Europe

Facebook recently said that it will be reintroducing its facial recognition features to users in Europe, but strictly on an opt-in basis. The social media giant was forced to withdraw the technology five years before after privacy activists had heavily opposed it.

Users who choose the feature will be notified if someone else uploads their photo on the platform. When disabled, Facebook will automatically delete the user’s personal data associated with the feature.

While facial recognition has already been rolled out in other countries, Facebook has not yet confirmed when it will be offering the feature again in Europe.
