Several IT experts have expressed their optimism regarding the role of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 in the Philippines’ cybersecurity sector.

Philippine Computer Emergency Response Team President Lito Averia said that the law compels the local IT industry to employ protective technical measures to safeguard data.

Angel T. Redoble, President of the Philippine Institute of Cyber Security Professionals, additionally said that it should bring more growth in the country’s IT security sector, a sentiment echoed by Dominic Lucenario of local company Pandora Security Labs Inc.
