14 Feb EU Backlash Prompts WhatsApp to Put GDPR Privacy Option for Users
Source report that WhatsApp may be working on a new data privacy option for users to be able to comply with the upcoming EU data privacy rules.
WABetaInfo, a popular WhatsApp beta-testing website says that the option will likely be extended to Facebook and Instagram and will be enabled no later than May 25.
Users will reportedly be able to request for a report on their data using the feature. However, it is said that requests can take up to 20 days.
Some say that the move may not only be a reaction to the GDPR, but also to the recent string of legal woes Facebook faced with France, Germany, and India.
