10 Nov Employee Negligence a Top Cause of Breaches, NPC Says
At a recent privacy summit at Zamboanga city, National Privacy Commission chief Raymund Enriquez Liboro urged government agencies and firms to adopt strong measures since most data breaches are caused by employee negligence.
Liboro revealed that as high as 53 percent of breaches can be traced back to negligence as opposed to hacking which is at 47 percent.
The NPC head said that around 37 percent of complaints they receive were due to the unauthorized processing of data. He said that the complainants were not aware that their data was being processed due to the lack of transparency by the data controller.
