DSWD Tackles “Listahanan” Data Privacy Concerns

In a recently held forum in Davao last Wednesday, the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Davao Region (DSWD-11) tackled several privacy considerations regarding the sharing of “Listahanan” data to other agencies.

DSWD 11 assistant regional director for Operations Rebecca Santamaria said that data from the National Housing Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (Listahanan) can only be shared by parties compliant to the provisions of RA 10173 or the Data Privacy Act, and that information such as age, gender, civil status, ethnic organization, health, education, sex life and offenses, should be treated as confidential.

According to DSWD 11 regional field coordinator Mae Valentin, around 40 participants from different provinces and government agencies in the region had participated in the discussion.
