26 Jun Parents Warned About Snapchat Tracking Feature
Social + issued a warning about Snapchat’s new feature that allows users to track the exact location of their friends. The page says that this could put youngsters at risk to predators.
The Snap Map can track any user and show their exact area, town, and street in real time, and is automatically turned on unless the user switches it to “ghost mode”. Real-time tracking can be turned off by making sure the app is the updated version. The user needs to zoom out to see the option of changing to who can see your location.
Snapchat is a photo and video sharing app that has gained over 55 million users in Europe alone, majority of which are teens and young people.
