Cyber Skills Shortage A Major Contributor to Data Breaches

According to a new survey by the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and the analyst firm Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), around 70% of 343 information security professionals say that the shortage of qualified cybersecurity experts have had a significant impact on their organization.

The lack of skills which include security analysis and investigations, application security and cloud computing security is exacerbating the occurence of data breaches, according to the respondents. However, it seems that cybersecurity is still a low priority for executive management, and some do not even provide adequate training for their cybersecurity staff.
