15 Feb Bill Gates to Apple: Help Authorities With Encryption Issue of Face Regulation
In recent comments to news website Axios, Bill Gates seemingly told Apple that they needed to be more accommodating to the government on the issue of access to data on encrypted devices, or the company may be subjected to regulation in the future.
Gates argued that there may be consequences if the company continued to advocate things that would prevent the government from performing functions expected from it. He further said that it was not a question of ability, but rather of willingness, pertaining to Apple’s statements that they were unable to decrypt contents stored in iOS devices.
Gates also added that tech companies seem to be enthusiastic about making financial transactions anonymous and invisible that could allow money to be used for illicit transactions without consequence.
