Australia Pushes for Encryption on Tech Firms Through Five Eyes

In a report from Reuters, Australia will be seeking “greater powers on encryption”

A meeting in Ottawa from the so-called “Five Eyes” intelligence network aims to discuss tactics to combat terrorism and border protection.

“I will raise the need to address ongoing challenges posed by terrorists and criminals using encryption,” said Australian Attorney General Senator Brandis in a statement.

“These discussions will focus on the need to cooperate with service providers to ensure reasonable assistance is provided to law enforcement and security agencies.”

Countries included in Five Eyes are The United States, The United Kingdom , Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
