05 Dec Apple’s MacOS High Sierra Patch May Not Work
Earlier this week, Wired magazine said that the login issue on MacOS High Sierra that Apple recently issued a patch for may still reoccur on some machines.
The bug allowed possible attackers to login with root access to Macs running High Sierra just by using “root” as username while leaving the password blank. Wired said that the issue may persist on systems that apply the patch prior to upgrading to High Sierra 10.13.1 and have not yet rebooted.
The flaw had already been known for several days, but Apple only issued a patch a day after it trended on Twitter due to a tweet by a Turkish software developer.
