Apple to Add Privacy Icon to Prevent Password Phishing

The Verge recently revealed that Apple will be introducing a Privacy icon in upcoming versions of iOS and macOS as an additional privacy safeguard and transparency measure.

As tweeted by user @CraftyDeano, the icon will appear whenever first-party apps or features request access to the user’s personal information. It is said that this should protect consumers in the event that a malicious app manages to slip through the App Store’s vetting process.

Apple further explains that users may not see the icon on other occasions since the company only collects sensitive information if it is essential to enable features, secure services, or personalize experiences.
