Apple Says Governments User Data Requests at All Time High

Apple has recently released a transparency report which revealed how much user data governments and private parties have requested from them from January to June this year.

The figures, which have worried privacy experts, indicate that the company had to approve over 77% of requests in the UK, and 80% in the US. According to the government, the data is used to a range of instances, such as locating stolen devices or fraudulent credit card purchases involving Apple products.

A representative issued a statement, assuring its customers that the company remains dedicated to protecting their user’s data. Apple CEO Tim Cook has been known to be against such government advances, calling it a “cancer”.
