Apple Inc is continuing to experiment on a new privacy technology that intends to build services and products that will adapt and understand users’ needs without stalking their activities.
Differential privacy, a cutting-edge technology that is quickly catching on, is hoping to provide user anonymity. Large tech companies such as Uber Technologies Inc., and Microsoft are also beginning to experiment with the technology.
Ishaan Nerukar of Leap Year Technologies points out how difficult de-anonymizing data has become. Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found in a two-year old research that by identifying linked data, social media accounts can be tied to credit card records even location and time of purchase.
