Anthem Accedes to Pay $115M Settlement on Data Breach Suit

Following a data breach in 2015, US health insurance company Anthem agrees to settle a class action lawsuit amounting to $115M. The most costly to date of litigation payouts for a US company.

The court is scheduled to hear the case on August 17 in San Jose California where the settlement will need to be approved by US District Court Judge Lucy Koh. Anthem spokeswoman said in a statement saying ” We are pleased to be putting this litigation behind us, and to be providing additional substantial benefits to individuals whose data was or may have been involved in the cyberattack and who will now be members of the settlement class,” but has not admitted to any wrong doings  “any individuals were harmed as a result of the cyberattack.”
