18 Oct Amazon Employee Protests Against Bezos’ Sale of Facial Recognition Tech to Authorities
An anonymous Amazon worker recently published an op-ed on Medium last Tuesday criticizing the decision of Amazon to provide US law enforcement with facial recognition technology.
The employee said that the government’s use of such surveillance tools disproportionately affects people of color, immigrants, and those exercising their First Amendment rights.
The post also said that instead of meaningfully explaining how the company will act against the misuse of its own technology, Bezos merely suggested that people should just wait for society to resolve it in its own time.
