AirBnb to Share Host Information to Chinese Government

AirBnb Inc. recently said that starting Friday, it will be disclosing host information with Chinese government agencies to comply with the country’s regulations.

Chinese regulations on residency require citizens and tourists to register their addresses with the police upon arrival in the country within 24 hours. It is said that other hospitality companies in the country also have to abide by the rules, and the only alternative for users with concerns would be to deactivate their listings.

To comply with local laws, AirBnb also launched a separate Chinese business and moved its data into the country, a move that sparked concerns from users worried about their privacy.
