Activist Max Schrems Sets Up Privacy Non-Profit

Max Schrems, an activist who recently generated international attention for facing off with Facebook in a privacy lawsuit in Europe, recently revealed plans to set up a non-profit organizations focused on defending the privacy rights of the individual.

Schrems says that the organization, called NOYB (None Of Your Business), will be launched next year when the GDPR takes effect. NOYB will have Schrems on the board of directors, with lawyer Christof Tschohl and Petra Leupold of the Austrian Consumer Protection Association.

It was pointed out that while the protection of privacy rights fall under the responsibilities of Data Protection Authorities (DPAs), legal, political and factual reasons often limit them from doing their job.
