13 Jan Aadhaar Fingerprints, Iris Data Secure, Says Prasad
Last Thursday, Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad assured the public that fingerprint and iris data kept in Aadhaar systems are safe and have not been breached.
Speaking at the Delhi School of Economics, Prasad said that the data cannot be compromised even with “billions of efforts”. He added that even his data is in the system, which is secure and encrypted using Indian technology.
The Minister’s recent statements are said to have been prompted by reports that the Aadhaar had been breached, and that the personal information of millions of Indians can be bought at a low price on popular messaging platforms.
