“123456” Still the Most Popular Password, According to Breach Data

It was revealed that “123456” is still the most popular password for the second year in a row, as established by data composed of millions of passwords exposed from breach incidents.

Included in the Top 100 Worst Passwords of 2017 are sports terms and first names. Experts say that using such passwords lead to very poor account security.

Password management utility company SplashData said that it had compiled the list by studying over 5 million leaked user records. The company added that hackers use data from leaked records to open accounts using brute force attacks.
